EVOQUE / SAFETY RECALL
Evoque P031: the recall concerned steering-gear mountings
The December campaign addressed insufficient tightening of steering-gear bolts on a limited population of vehicles.
P031 / MGP120478
P031 was announced by the manufacturer on 11 December 2012. The official Dutch RDW record, MGP120478, was published on 14 January 2013. Those dates describe different stages of the same campaign, rather than a new defect appearing in January.
What the official record describes
The steering-gear mounting bolts had not been tightened to the prescribed torque. The mounting could loosen, reducing controllability. Abnormal noise during manoeuvring was identified as a possible preceding symptom.
The prescribed correction
Owners were asked to arrange a visit with a brand dealer. The stated action was to inspect the bolt tightening and correct it where necessary. The record does not support a general claim that every Evoque requires a replacement steering rack.
A campaign reference is not a diagnosis
Coverage and completion must be checked for the individual VIN and market. A noise from the front of another vehicle does not establish P031 as its cause. This is an archive of the manufacturer’s campaign; it is not a remote assessment of an individual steering fault.
Historical campaign summary. Applicability and completion must be checked for the individual vehicle.
