What cloning means

A replacement module may need original vehicle-specific information to work correctly. Depending on the unit, this can involve configuration, identity and immobiliser-related data. The exact data and method vary. Support for reading and writing memory does not by itself establish that a complete clone is possible.

Original and donor compatibility

We check both labels, hardware and software details where available. Matching appearance or connectors is not enough. Even a matching part number may need further checks for a particular unit. Keep the original module, including a damaged one, until the replacement strategy has been assessed.

If the original is damaged

The options depend on which data remain readable and whether the problem is in the data, electronics or both. Water damage and loss of communication do not automatically give the same outcome. We assess the original condition and explain whether data transfer, further recovery or a different route is appropriate.

Bench work and final vehicle checks

Some jobs can be prepared using removed modules. Others require adaptation, configuration or diagnosis on the vehicle after installation. We agree these responsibilities before accepting the work. Testing communication on the bench is distinct from verifying a vehicle starts and every relevant system operates.

Working with garages

Workshops can contact us with the fault description, vehicle details and clear photographs of both module labels. For postal work, agree the contents, packing, return arrangements and any required vehicle-side procedure before sending anything. We quote the assessed job rather than promise every ECU, BCM or TCM can be cloned.
