Freelander 2 reaches 300,000 at Halewood
A black diesel bound for Brazil marked a production milestone.

Land Rover announced the 300,000th Freelander 2 on 3 May 2012. Halewood had begun building the model in October 2006; the milestone car was a Barolo Black 2.2-litre diesel destined for Brazil.
A production count, not a new version
The announcement celebrated accumulated output. It did not create a special 300,000 edition or define the specification of every vehicle built around that date. The photographed car also predates the separate August equipment revision.
The UK range in context
The release described UK SD4 and TD4 diesel choices and a two-wheel-drive eD4. The Brazilian destination of the milestone vehicle should not be confused with a statement that it had a particular UK-market derivative specification.
Why the date matters
A model can pass a manufacturing milestone before a later update is announced. When identifying lamps, infotainment or starting systems, build date and original equipment remain more precise than the year attached to a celebratory press release.
