XF SE Business and Sport: two approaches to the 2.2 diesel
Navigation and business use on one side; aerodynamic styling and extra convenience on the other.

Jaguar added SE Business and Sport versions to the UK XF range on 24 January 2012. Both used the 2.2-litre diesel, but the different outputs and equipment gave them distinct positions: SE Business started at £31,500 on the road and Sport at £34,950.
At a glance
- UK announcement: 24 January 2012.
- SE Business: 163PS 2.2 diesel, navigation with HDD mapping.
- Sport: 190PS 2.2 diesel and an aerodynamic styling package.
SE Business put navigation into the specification
The SE Business used the 163PS diesel and added satellite navigation with a seven-inch touchscreen and hard-drive mapping. Existing equipment included Intelligent Stop/Start, a 400W audio system with DAB, leather and suedecloth seats, and bi-xenon headlights.
Its emphasis was a useful equipment addition to the lower-output XF. The navigation hardware mattered to the specification; the Business name did not denote a separate body style or an entirely new infotainment generation.

Sport combined appearance and everyday equipment
The 190PS Sport adopted the aerodynamic package associated with the Diesel S. A changed front bumper, black grille element, side-sill extensions, boot-lid spoiler and black rear valance gave the car a different exterior treatment.
Inside, half-leather and suedecloth upholstery, contrasting stitching, electric front-seat adjustment and piano-black trim accompanied Sport centre-console graphics and stainless-steel pedals. Heated front seats and windscreen, front parking assistance, a reversing camera and 60/40 folding rear seats were also included.
Comparing the two versions
The UK announcement made both versions available to order immediately. These were contemporary on-the-road starting prices, rather than current used-car values. Sport’s larger equipment list and higher-output engine should be considered together when comparing the two.
| January 2012 UK version | Engine output | Starting OTR price |
|---|---|---|
| XF SE Business | 163PS | £31,500 |
| XF Sport | 190PS | £34,950 |
Keep the units and dates consistent
Contemporary British reporting described the outputs as approximately 161bhp and 188bhp. These represent the same two engine levels expressed in different units, rather than extra versions. The January additions also preceded the further XF range and powertrain announcements later in 2012.
