Spare key or all keys lost: preparing the enquiry
Practical preparation advice from JLRTECH.
How many working keys remain?
This is one of the first questions to answer. A spare-key enquiry starts with at least one working key; when every key is lost, the required assessment and arrangements can be different. State the number of keys you have and which functions still work.
Describe the key’s behaviour
Explain whether the key unlocks the vehicle, operates the remote buttons and allows starting. If there are intermittent problems, say whether both keys behave the same way and when the symptoms occur. A starting problem does not automatically mean that a replacement key is required.
Have the basic details ready
Provide the vehicle model, year and location. A clear key photograph or further vehicle information may be requested. Bring all available keys to the agreed appointment, and have evidence of ownership or authority to commission security-related work.
Agree the result
Discuss which functions are included in the proposed key service and whether any separate diagnostic or mechanical work is needed. Price and travel are agreed before the job. Call for a key enquiry, or read the individual service pages for more detail.
